Visiting Artist
In the fall of 2025 | Jaipur, India
Artist Rebecca Welz, granted a sabbatical by Pratt Institute, participated in an artist residency in Jaipur, India.
After touring city palaces and temples, seeing leopards at a wildlife sanctuary, and visiting a town known for vibrant block-printed textiles, artist Rebecca Welz began her work at the residency.
She said, "I bought handmade paper that is embedded with rose petals. This led me to start a series of sewn collages using found materials and thread I bought in India. Photos of the collages to come. My experience was exhilarating and inspiring, and I am looking forward to my next visit to India."
